She laughed a bit, as he sometimes didn't remember that she wasn't royalty.  She was a queen now but wasn't born into it.

"The rule has been in place for centuries. The royal heirs are precious and have to be treated as such even before their births. Sexual relations for the queen is forbidden until she has her first monthly cycle after the birth. The queen's body is considered to be sacred and has to be treated as such. That is why nobody is permitted to touch you without your consent except for me. Even the children are supposed to ask permission before touching either of us, but I have given them a lot of freedom there. I can't force my children to ask before a spontaneous hug or reaching for our hand."

"The children and I are the only permitted to touch you without your permission. If you hug somebody, they are permitted to return the hug. I do hope you are not hugging a lot of people though."

He gave her a smile to show he was just joking on that last part. He knew she would never do anything improper.

"I am trying to change some of the customs, my love. Some I do hope to keep the same because they are for the safety of the family. The touching is one of them. We cannot be certain who would want to harm us or who unknowingly brings a disease to our court. You being with child have to be especially careful now."

Ashlynn: I can understand that darling, and I was never one to be really hands on with those I don't know. 

She said honestly as it was true, she didn't overly go out , only for church and duties, but lately everything had been quiet and she was needed at the castle.

He knew that she loved the place when she was a child. It was only an hour ride from the castle and had been in the family for centuries. It had been the original family home before the castle had been built. It was also where Mary had been born.
